
The VELB European Institute for Breastfeeding and LactationAfter the first group of exam applicants made the effort to find high-quality information on breastfeeding and lactation and successfully passed the international exam on this topic, the European Lactation Consultant Association (VELB) was founded. To ease the path of future colleagues, VELB first offered a Europe-wide further education seminar in the 1992/1993 academic year as preparation for the international exam (IBLCE). The tasks of this further education program became more and more comprehensive so that an educational sub-division of VELB was formed which, since then, has carried the name: The European Institute for Breastfeeding and Lactation.
