Dear colleagues,

We take great pleasure in inviting you in the name of the VELB European Lactation Consulant
Association as well as the ILCA International Lactation Consultant Association to participate in the 1. VELB-ILCA Conference “A World Wide View on Breastfeeding” in Vienna Austria.

This conference is directed at those current and aspiring lactation consultants, health professions
and others who want to better support mothers and babies with breastfeeding.

This Conference will take place in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe Vienna, take the
opportunity to attend this first joint conference from VELB and ILCA under the Title of

“A World Wide View on Breastfeeding”

You will have the opportunity to share experiences with participants from around the world.

The Conference will take place in the Austria centre of Vienna, the languages are German and
English with simultaneous translation.

As of October 1, 2008 registration has been opened and will be accepted. Please use the
registration form.

On site registration will start September 30, 2008 at 15.00 h with the Pre-conference General
assembly being held at 16.00 h.

On site registration October 1-3, 2008 starts at 08.00.

On September 30, 2008 on the eve of the Conference you can take part in the Preconference welcome reception with a opening lecture from Randa Sadeeh on „Global strategies for the infant and young child feeding for every one and every day” (1 CERP). Afterwards enjoy the evening with your colleagues in the Piaristenkeller, at a dinner of Wiener Schnitzel and Apfelstrudel. (Price: € 30.-)

On October 1, 2008 there will be a reception from the mayor and governor of Vienna at
city hall. A Lecture from Anne Marie Kern and Ilse Bichler about „The breastfeeding mother in art
"will be held (1 CERP).

On October 2, 2008, in the evening and after the 2 day you can enjoy a boot trip on the Blue
Danube with dinner and dancing. Don’t miss this chance to dance the Vienna Waltz (Price: € 65.-).

With pleasure we would like to inform you that accompanying persons are welcomed to attend the evening events on September 30 and October 1. Please mark the total number of persons attending on the registration form.

In the afternoon of the second day of the conference on October 2, 2008 and in the morning of
the 3 day, October 3, 2008 you will have the chance to choose each time between 3 different
groups of lectures or 4 different workshops. Please, mark on your registration form whether you
would like to take part in the lectures or in a Workshop. Advanced reservation is required for
the workshops.

Conference Registration Fees:

Participants from certain developing countries can receive a 15% discount at time of registration.

Confirmation of registration, payment information etc. will be sent to all pre-registered
participants. The confirmation letter is an official document that certifies registration upon
payment; it has to be shown on site to receive the registration material. A refund of the
registration fee (minus a deduction of € 50.- for administration costs) will only be granted if
notification of cancellation reaches the Conference Office in writing by August 15, 2008. However,
refunds will be settled after the conference only.

CERPs: up to a total of 19 CERPs can be earned at the Conference.

A limited number of scholarships are available and can be applied for by sending in a request
from January 1-31, 2008 to the conference office.
